Matthew Nimetz ’60
Matt Nimetz was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and is a graduate of Harvard Law School. After clerking for Justice John Harlan, he worked in the Johnson White House before practicing law in New York. He was Counselor to the Department of State and later Undersecretary for Security Assistance, Science and Technology during the Carter Administration. He was a partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison from 1981 to 2000, when he joined General Atlantic, a global private equity firm where he was Managing Director and COO through 2011 and where he remains an Advisory Director. He served through 2019 as United Nations mediator successfully resolving the “name” dispute between Greece and North Macedonia. He is a trustee emeritus of Williams and serves on several other boards.
