Stephen R. Lewis, Jr. ’60

Steve Lewis is President Emeritus of Carleton College (president 1987-2002). He taught at Williams and the CDE 1966-87. He was an advisor to the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics in Karachi (1963-65), Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Finance in Kenya (1971-73), and Economic Consultant to the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning in Botswana (1975-96, resident 1977-8, 1980-82). He is Chair of the Trustees of Wallin Education Partners, a college access and success program based in Minnesota, and a former Trustee (1988-2006) and Vice Chair of the board of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
